Maelfa Shopping Centre Regeneration

Following over 8 years of debate the regeneration of the existing Maelfa Shopping Centre in Llanedeyrn, Cardiff, is now to proceed with Cardiff Community Housing Association (CCHA) plans being given the go ahead.

RPA have been working closely with CCHA, Asbri planning and Austin Smith Lord Architects to ensure that this highly sensitive, ambitious project comes to fruition. RPA have been appointed Employers Agent and Principal Designer for the project with Tenders due to be released early in March and a projected start date of October 2016

The scheme will consist of the construction of 9 retail units, 38 flats and 16 townhouses and will finally bring an end to the long wait for regeneration in this area of Cardiff. The scheme has been subject to intense design and costing exercises, in which RPA has been heavily involved, to ensure that the scheme is viable.

The design team as a whole are pleased that this scheme, after much work is now reaching its conclusion and it is hoped that the scheme will start on site in early summer 2016.
