Nick Soady


As Senior Director, Nick combines practice leadership and responsibility for the strategic growth of the Business with Business Development, whilst maintaining a very hands on role in respect of specific Project Management and Employer’s Agent and other consultancy appointments.

Since completing an Honours Degree in Quantity Surveying at Reading University in 1985, Nick has now gained over 30 years experience in the construction industry in the fields of Project Management and Construction Cost Control, primarily representing clients in the procurement of major building projects in many sectors including commercial, residential, education, retail, leisure, healthcare, and renewable energy across both the private and public sectors.

Nick is also involved in a number of projects within the renewables sector where we have members of staff seconded into specialist construction providers of Photovoltaic Parks and Wind Farms across the UK.

Tudor Butler


Since joining RPA in 2003 as a trainee surveyor Tudor has gone on to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Quantity Surveying from the College of Estate Management and become a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

With nearly 15 years’ experience within the construction industry covering a wide range of sectors from housing to commercial. Tudor has gained particular experience within the retail sector having spent 18 months on secondment within a national retailer’s property department working as part of the value management team.

Tudor manages the Principle Design/CDMC consultancy services offered by RPA. His experience covers residential, retail, health care, renewables and commercial projects.

Paul Calderbank

Director RPA:Cubic

As lead Director for  RPA:Cubic Paul is responsible for delivering Development Management services to our clients.  Paul has been a Chartered Surveyor specialising in Development Management for nerly 20 years during which time he has worked in London, Manchester and Cardiff.

From Paul’s initial development role with Orbit Developments his experience has grown to cover all property sectors.  These include out of town retail and leisure schemes, office and industrial schemes, residential and social housing, High Street retail and town centre regeneration. RPA:Cubic can advise on all stages of the development cycle from inception to completion/disposal.

Paul has acted and provided advice in a development management capacity to development/investment companies, high net worth individuals and entrepreneurs, local authorities and registered social landlords.

Lyndon Davies

Associate Director

Lyndon has worked for RPA for a number of years where he has played a key role in enhancing RPA’s core technical skills especially in the provision of Pre Contract Cost Planning and the Preparation of Bills of Quantities and Builders Quantities for a range of key clients and contractors.

With this attention to detail Lyndon plays a vital role in the managing of the technical operations and underpinning of the core values and skills throughout the practice. He also plays a key role in the technical training of our junior staff.

Additionally, Lyndon works closely with a number of Housing Associations acting as Employers Agent and Quantity Surveyor through Pre and Post contract phases.

David Reeves

Associate Director

After initially training with us for two years as a Trainee Surveyor before working with another professional practice for four years, David re-joined RPA in March 2013 to help further develop RPA’s presence in the South West of England, and is now the Associate responsible for the day to day running of our Bristol office. David’s professional qualifications include a degree in Law and Business and a Post Graduate Diploma in Quantity Surveying with the College of Estate Management.  Dave is a Chartered Surveyor having become a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 2014.

With over ten years’ experience in the Construction Industry David has also gained experience covering various sectors including Residential, Commercial, Healthcare, Education, Retail and Renewable Energy.


James Christian

Associate Director

James joined RPA in 2006 as a Trainee Surveyor, graduating in 2011 with a degree in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management from the University of the West of England.  James is a Chartered Surveyor having become a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 2014.

James has over 10 years’ experience in the Construction industry, during this time he has gained UK wide  experience across a wide array of sectors including Residential, Commercial, Industrial, Retail, Primary Care and Sustainable Technologies providing Quantity Surveying, Employers Agent and Project Management services to Clients in both the public and private sectors.

James also has considerable experience in providing Due Diligence and Fund Monitoring services to a number of commercial financial institutions.

Ben Smith

Associate Director

After deciding on a career change, Ben joined RPA in 2012 as a Graduate Trainee, whilst also enrolling on the Post Graduate Quantity Surveying course at the University of the West of England, completing the qualification in 2015.Ben became a chartered surveyor in 2016, on becoming a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

During his time at RPA he has gained specific experience in delivering residential housing schemes throughout Wales and the South West of England- from one-off bespoke private dwellings, to substantial projects for a range of Housing Associations, to elderly persons schemes, to large multi-storey apartment blocks. Ben has also undertaken a number of challenging refurbishments and fit out   schemes. Further, he has specific experience in Funder Due Diligence on behalf of a number of funding institutions.

Ben values long term client relationships, always striving to fully understand clients’ needs and requirements, and recognising that achieving successful projects involves a tailored approach.

Paul Griffiths

Associate Director

Paul initially joined RPA on work experience, before being offered a permanent position in late 2009. Graduating in 2012 from the University of South Wales with a degree in Quantity Surveying, he then continued his studies at the University, and gained an M.Sc. in Construction Project Management in 2014.Paul is a chartered surveyor having become a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 2015.

Since joining RPA, he has worked in a number of industry sectors, notably in renewables where he has substantial UK-wide experience in wind and solar, including project managing over 60Mw of grid connected renewable projects; also in residential housing for a number of Housing Associations and developers.
