Biophillic Living

Sector:       Residential
Client:         Pobl Group, Development Bank of Wales, Swansea Council, Welsh Government
Introducing biophilic living on the Kingsway in Swansea—a transformative approach to city life that blends affordable homes and workspaces with a vibrant community urban farm.

The scheme

RPA is delighted to be supporting the delivery of this scheme, working closely with and representing all of the main funding parties involved. This includes Pobl Homes, Development Bank Wales, Welsh Government IHP funds, and the Transforming Towns grant from the City & County of Swansea.

The scheme incorporates a range of innovative technologies to develop a first-of-its-kind ‘living tower’ in the centre of Swansea. These include rainwater harvesting, heat storage using the sprinkler tanks, rooftop greenhouses, and innovative heat transfer techniques throughout the building.

The building will be one of Swansea’s tallest, reaching 12 stories. It will include a retail floor, three floors of commercial space, eight floors of apartments (all designated for social housing), roof gardens and greenhouses, as well as community spaces.
