RPA are pleased to announce the completion of the Merthyr Street development in Barry for Newydd Housing Association. Following the demolition of the original building, the site had been left as an area of scrub land for a number for years. Newydd purchased the site and quickly developed a sympathetic project to reflect the historical nature of the previous building. Incorporated in to the build are the original ceremonial plaques that adorned the original building, further maintaining a link to the past. The building itself has been built utilising an innovative Metsec design and was delivered with minimal delay even though the scheme was almost entirely constructed through the pandemic. RPA have been involved right from the outset, initially providing cost advice on the likely build costs of the building prior to Newydd purchasing the plot. Following this RPA were appointed as Employers Agent and Principal Designer for the scheme. We are delighted that the scheme has turned out so well.
