Everyman Cinema

Sector:       Master Planing
Client:         JLL
Appointed by JLL Cardiff, this exciting redevelopment sees RPA in the roles of Quantity Surveyor and CDM Principal Designer.

The scheme

This five screen cinema venue, which features chic sofa seating and innovative waiter service, will be the first in Wales for popular boutique cinema chain, Everyman. Located on the terrace level, the cinema sits alongside Mermaid Quay’s vibrant mix of restaurants and bars.

The project opened its doors in Winter 2019 and links two former restaurants with a new glass walkway. Its construction was challenging given its location above existing walkways which remained in use throughout. Together with the added pressure of works to this area required to be completed in time to make way for the Council’s programme of events in the adjacent Roald Dhal Plas which commenced in early summer 2019.

Works involved the full strip out of two former restaurants including a complete reconfiguration of the space. RPA were integral throughout ensuring adherence to budget as well as the health & safety of the public during works on a live site with very limited access for plant, machinery and equipment etc. In addition the team worked closely with neighbouring businesses to minimise disruption to its customers with close communication, just in time deliveries, and ensuring adherence to agreed working hours by all parties.
