Aberdare Care Home

The project forms part of Linc’s on-going partnership with RCT Council to provide a programme of Extra Care facilities through out.

The scheme

This development was Wales’ first modular built extra care home development. The main contractor constructed the main elements of the development via 96 individual modules which were fully fitted out, at their factory in Newtown, Powys, before delivering them to the site helping to reduce the construction period.

The development includes 40 independent apartments (36 one – bedroom and four two -bedroom) for people aged 55 and over, within a single three -storey building. There is on -site assistance for residents with decreased mobility and other care needs. The development provides communal facilities including a dining room and café, hair salon, therapy room, lounge, laundry room, winter garden room, activity room and guest suite. Ancillary areas such as a kitchen, staff room and offices are provided, along with a 24 space car park and a garden area which is used in conjunction with Blaengwawr Primary School.
